well quantative is any data such as numbers, charts, something that you can get statistical results from, whereas qualitative would be open ended, such as an interview, tape recordings etc

Quantitative is data that can simply be quantified; generally it means numbers and other such statistical data.

Qualitative data is the opposite - it's word-based data, interviews with people, and it's generally conducted on a smaller scale than quantitative.

Good luck with your dissertation!

I'll be as simple as I can.
If you study Murderers lets say Yorkshire Ripper, Dr Harold "Fred" Shipman, Dennis Nielsen and The Kray twins.
The Kray twins admitted to one murder each.
Dennis Nielsen was attributed 16 victims, possibly more.
Yorkshire Ripper (Peter William Sutcliffe) 13 murders and 4-5 survivors. (poss. more on both counts)
Dr Shipman 253+ victims.
There is higher quantity for Shipman , but not a lot can be gained from that, he was just more prolific. The spread of the murders was mainly in the towns where he served as a GP so there is also quality there.
Hope this makes sense.
