I am very limited to my knowledge of cars, but this one is a sweet ride and even though they are too busy i would like to get it lookin nice. Any suggestions on what i shuold do to the car( and no i cant really sell it, its not mine). I also want to get it raceworthy, so if yall ahve suggestions on that id appreciate it. Im already lookin to do a brake conversion so let me know.

Start with making an arrangement with your dad and brother on reimbursing you for anything you put into the car. Then inspect the car and take care of any mechanical issues first. Then start restoring cosmetic things that need repair. As you become familiar with the car and its components, you will be able to assess what you want to do to it. Start with mild performance modifications like converting to the disk brake front end, a free flowing exhaust, etc.

There are many, many sites magzines and clubs for info on mustangs. So your in luck! It's a easy car to do compared to a less popular car like a AMX. I had only one suggestion, it would be to replace the fuel tank with a fuel cell. Early mustangs have the same trunk/ gas tank problem as the Pinto. If hit from the rear, the tank sends fuel into the passenger compartment. The design defect is due to the tank being part of the trunk floor. If you want to race, I'd do that upgrade as well as the brakes. Motors? You can stick just about anything in it. From a current 4.6 mod , a 5.0 EFI , 351W, to a big block. The other thing would be suspension! replace all rubber bushings.

Cool undertaking guy! i will attempt to help you out somewhat. The 302 and 289 are literally interior an identical relatives of engines and maximum elements are interchangeable. A stroker kit for a 302 also will paintings for a 289. yet in case you want a stout performance engine, the added important element than cubic inches is engine flow. The inventory heads and cam on your 289 2-barrel actually received't flow sufficient to make intense HP/torque numbers, so that they're going to favor to get replaced. The heads and cam that you opt for relies upon on various aspects like power aims, wanted streetability, rpm decision, and so on. you could get over 400hp out of a pump gasoline 289. yet in case you want a intense torque engine, than you probable favor to flow with a 347 stroker kit for it. the suitable rear end to apply is possibly a Ford 9". they are worry-free to locate, hard, and performance a lot of o.e.m elements accessible. there are various speed shops that beef up transmissions to cope with extra power. A inventory C4 will be able to cope with a stout 347 yet no longer if you're transforming into a superior launch. it really is continually sturdy to have peace of ideas and beef up a trans it really is backing a intense power engine. understand that your funds has plenty to do with what you could mod and what you could not.
