They yell abstinence, yeah that's going to work with teens, remember when you were 16!?

Are they (Neocons) unable to "think it through"? Answer anyway you see fit, Thanks.

The reality is that murderers are going to commit murder also... you do not supply them clean knives or more humane bullets...

Wrong is still wrong... and you don't support the committing of wrong acts, even though you know they will still happen

How about teaching responsibility? Your idea of distributing condoms in school sends a message to kids.. "we don't care if you do it". I care. I have a daughter who is thankfully years away from this type of situation...but I won't approve of her having sex when she is 14 or 15 years old, and she'll know that. No, I can't stop her, but am I going to aid her in her quest? Nope. What if she gets pregnant, you say? Well, I hope that I am fit enough as a mother to teach her that actions have consequences. She'll be a well informed teen, and can do with the information as she sees fit.
By your argument, if teens are going to kill each other, shouldn't we just give them the guns? Or maybe, just hand out bullet proof vests...so they don't get hurt. Wrong again. Liberals seem to think that being asked to behave responsibly is a silly thing...and I cannot for the life of me understand why. I don't think we should give clean needles to junkies either...it's all about condoning undesirable or unlawful behavior..
And, what is wrong with abstinence? what is wrong with expecting kids to behave age appropriately? I didn't have sex when I was 16. Nor when I was 17, or 18. Why not? I wasn't ready...and I was able to ignore the pressure to "just do it". Sex is something for mature, loving relationships...not for a bunch of hormone driven teenagers. If you can't explain that to kids....don't have them.

Passing out the truth would help a lot more then condoms .Arranged marriages just disappeared openly in the 1800's and was still done through parental guidelines on dating .My Irish mother was not allowed to date a guinee/whop/jew /minority/outside the church / when she was growing up in New Jersey and that was the thirty's and forty's so where do we get such strange notions .that teens have been having sex for thousands of years meant one thing .Marriage at a young age .
As soon as girls got their period they were considered ready to start a family of there own .Only wealthy people looked down upon a large family .Greed so strong that brothers fought for the right to control family fortunes .Killing one another rather then learning to share .
This might be extreme but not so rare among the people it is un-heard of and it continues today .I have a strong believe that wealthy women have more abortions as a percentage of the people then do poor women .If 1000 millionaires daughters and wife's have abortions and 10,000 poor women do then i would say that because so few women are rich that the % is higher among the greedy rich who do not wish to be inconvenienced by children .So birth control is faught to keep poor americans poor and working for the rich .Thats why rich folks tell the poor folks that women need to have the children .This insures a steady work force for the future .They use abortion as an issue not as right or wrong .
I am as you know opposed to all abortions and for only resonable medical procedures to save the mother .No choice is involved at all .We need to work to save both but in the end the less then 1% of pregnacies that need for the developing child to be sacrificed for the mothers life is acceptable .

Well it's probably either not the right time or not the right place to just give out condoms at random in a public high school. You have to sit down and also educate them about sex before you give them the "license".If the parents want there child to have condoms, that will be there decision to make, not your's.They also have sex education classes that parents set up for there kids before they get to high-school that will help them. You shouldn't just give adolescent teenagers condoms and expect them to be remodels. In other words you just shouldn't do it.

Yeah, I was in high school, but I still waited until I was 20. And I'm glad I did.

Some kids can't wait, so everybody should just throw in the towel and f**k, f**k, f**k?

Going through your teen years is challenging enough, without throwing in worries about being a mom or dad at that age, or getting a STD.

I think the problem comes in when people feel that abstinence should not be taught along with teaching safe sex. In my opinion, children shoudl start learing early on how babies are made and crap. Kids need to be taught all of the reprecussions of having sex. And how to properly protect themselves fro pregnancy and/or disease.

I totally agree with you. Research has shown that abstinence programs in schools don't work. Conservatives often argue that distributing condoms in schools would send the implicit message to teens that it's OK to have sex. I don't know if that's true, but let's look at things realistically. There will always be some teens who choose to have sex, and since that's the case, isn't it best to provide them with something that will save their lives and prevent unwanted pregnancies?

Oh yeah right, are they really going to use them anyway?
If a girl carries a condom, sorry to say in this day and age, she is looked at as a whore because she was expecting to have sex.

Perhaps there can be a condom dispenser in the boys bathroom.... For like a quarter each...
but I have a bad feeling they would frequently not be used as intended and some days there would be condoms flung around the school as a gag...
kinda gross.

There is nothing wrong with it. People don't like it because it brings teen sex into realtity more so than any other act (other than actually having sex).

Abstinance SHOULD be taught along with sexual RESPONSIBILITY and SELFESTEEM ISSUES especially for girls.

Simply handing out the condoms is just as useful as JUST SAY NO!!!!

You know, not everyone - not even every teenager, is having sex. And out of the sexually active teens, two out of three of them regret having sex. They wished they hadn't done it. So we probably shouldn't distribute condoms since it would be encouraging sex when the kids who are having sex wish it didn't happen.
