well you can't actualy make even an erasable dvd like a hard drive. since the read, erase and write access times are way to slow for this function. best way is to download the program you want into a hard drive, either eide, scsi, or ata which ever capability your computer has. but you can download the program to dvd or cd to do this also. and use the dvd or cd as a backup copy. but if it is a mater of not enough room on you hard drive. then you need to either by a larger capacity drive, or slave drive. since most compiters have the ability for up to at least four eide or serial ata devices.such as hard drives, cds, dvds etc. with two ribbon cable connectors capable of one master and one slave drive each. you can also buy removable drives, that are called hot swap. some of which can be used with you channel a or b floppy disc drive cable. how ever some of the newer computers no longer have the floppy disc systems. since most programs today are much larger than even the capacity of these older removable discs.
