I paid a down payment of $1300, and I have been paying $113/month.(for the last 5 months). We haven't been able to buy a thing, because we were mislead as to what manufacturers we would have access to. They are too cloak and dagger when they want you to join Direct Buy. Yet, foolishly we joined. Every manufacturer we want...isn't partnered with Direct Buy. Only old fogie type furniture etc. What if I stop my payments? How can I get out of this contract? I don't want to pay another $2500 to this company!

It would cost less to talk to an attorney than it would to pay another 2500. Explain your case and see what he can come up with.

Phone the Law Society of Upper Canada. Ask for the free 15 minute service of a qualified lawyer.
It may cost you a bit more but better than being sued if you stop your payments. Too bad you got sucked into this. I almost did but then I thought their claims of savings were exaggerated. Good luck

Contact consumer association, check with Better Business Bureau, check with Ministry, seek legal advise from the specialized lawyer. In the meantime stop paying. If you have authorized DIRECT BUY for automatic monthly payment through your credit card then scinario is complicated. Contact your card company, explain to them and force them to help you. Ask SILVERMAN from the CityTV to help you.And do it fast.

I've never heard of this before but you should be able to go complain to Consumer Affairs Canada or your Municipal Affairs in Toronto. You may have to talk to a lawyer.
