I have many signs of an early pregnancy (missed period, nausea, etc.), but I keep taking the tests and they are all showing up negative. I was wondering if anyone knew what might cause this?

My friend had it happen to her, she took three tests, all negative, so she went to the doctor concerned about her missed periods and he told her she was pregnant.

Not that it's the end of the world, my partner and I have discussed this in great length, we both have good jobs and are committed to each other. We're both in our late 20s and have been considering starting a family sometime soon, so it might even be nice if it were true.

I have had one say that I was, but in fact I really wasn't several times. I think the best way to find out is through your Doctor. I wouldn't trust this site for any type of influence to a proper answer.

I went into the army and they gave me 3 home pregnancy tests before I got to basic. When I got to basic they gave all the women the blood test to check just in case I guess(Don't know why they didn't do that in the first place). The blood test was the only one that came back positive. They said that it happens to a lot of women. I guess your hormones just dont effect the test like some women. I suggest taking a blood test from your doctor. If you feel pregnant and are having symptoms then you probably are.
Good Luck and Congrats if you are.

Yes. i took a pregnancy test after being about a week late on my period and it said negative. I took another a week later and it was positive. The cause is that theres not enough of the pregnancy hormone in your body yet for the test to pick up. Good luck to you :)

Yes its very possible for many reasons. Its more likely to get a false negative than a false positive.

Some reasons are because you might be testing too early, you might be using a brand that isnt sensitive enough or your body may be one of the few that dont produce enough HCG hormone to make a pregnancy test read positive.

I am a mom with 5 boys and that happened to me with my 2nd son. I kept on taking pregnancy tests at home and it was always negitive, but yet I had all the symtems of pregnancy. So I finally went to my dr.s and indeed I was pregnant. It is just the hormone that you produce when you get pregnant wasn't quite strong enough to detect the pregnancy yet at the time. I would deffinately go to your dr, and have a test done. You all so could be doing the test wrong.

With both of my children, I had negative home pregnancy tests. My second showed negative all the way up to 8 weeks. My hormone levels were not high enough to show up on the home tests.

Yup, it happened to me - tested myself in October, then November because my period never came only to find out in December that I was 4 months pregnant. The doctor has a term for it but I forget. Better get yourself to an ob-gyne so they can do a more reliable test than just the test kits sold over the counter. Congratulations.

I have been told that you can get a false negative from a home pregnancy kit, but not a false positive. So you could very well be pregnant. I would call your doctor or planned parenthood and see if they could schedule a pregnancy test for you.
