Meagan Mullally who has her own daytime show acutally complained because she was told she would have to pay taxes on the $33,000 gift bag from the Emmy's, so she didn't take hers and actually said "we're all getting screwed". It looks like several of the celebrites left behind their gift bags because the IRS is starting to crack down and tax gift bags or swag as they are sometime called. And why shouldn't they, if anyone can afford to pay taxes on some major bling they are just handed for walking down a red carpet or saying "and the award goes to" it's stars who make millions of dollars for being able to cry on cue or in her case be a alcoholic pillhead on Will & Grace. For her or any other stars to complain about it is f***up. I stayed up for 3 days with my lips on a jeep cherokee and when I walked away with the keys trust me, Uncle Sam was there with his hand out and I had to pay taxes. Celebrities are not God's and in the real world we all pay taxes... Can I get an AMEN !!!

A gift bag, should be just that. I've never had to pay taxes on a gift. (Then again I've never recieved an Emmy bag, or a car)
Maybe Hollywood will stop with the gift bags, and donate the money to each of the stars causes. Do they really need that gift bag crap anyways!

AMEN! Why do they get those gift bags anyway? And Jaime Pressley SO should have got the Emmy as Earl's ex than Mullally who's character just got down right boring (as did the whole show) Really cool about the Jeep! That had to really, REALLY hard to do.

You have to remember also who put them there. We as fans have alot to do with it. and hollywood and people kissing up to them . Afraid to upset them. They become pampered and so many people they work with either bull **** them. Or tell them what they think they want to hear as not to upset there meat and potatoes. Or play them up and swell there ego's , and its terrible . Cause when hollywoods done with you. and you have given them all you can. they spit you out and chew you up and move on to someone newer and younger. And here is this celebrity after all these years of being told what a great person they are. now is quiet. Naturally a person would feel miffed and stunned. Its like if someone in your life told you all your life your the best of the best you heard it day and night from everyone you believe it. Then bam one day they don't want you anymore. Its the celebrity thats left picking up the peieces on how to handle that . Its not easy. Theres no profession out there after your out of the lime light and how to handle it. It must be very tough for them. To be told all your life your something then puff one day your not needed anymore. Its a cold business. and you have to have thick skin. But i don't care who you are its gotta hurt we all feel.

I agree with you, I think stars or not should pay for taxes just like everyone else. Congratulations on your winning that jeep. Your lips must have been sore after you were done. None the less,
GOOD JOB !!!!!

peace.

yes, I think they do. Tom Cruise, for example, does. So does Harrison Ford. Oh, and let us not forget Angelina Jolie and her boyfriend.

i'm not sure if that's "believing their own hype" more likely a case of "inflated self importance" or just being self-centered
