This is not such a silly question as it seems. A man knows he's turned on by a feeling in his penis which will probably get slightly bigger until eventually it gets erect. I wondered what the female equivalent was. There is a lot of interesting information in the answers upto now.

Well, it all depends on what you mean, on what you refer to as 'Being Turned On'!
If you feel 'something' going on - in your innards, and a friend said, 'Oh, that means your turned on,' and then you threw up (because it was food poisoning - and no one told you), then you are going to think that 'that feeling is what the label said it is.'
Levels of 'excitation' vary from person to person, as do signs / symptoms too. But 'generally' speaking, there is a symptom of 'heat' between the legs and a desire to touch yourself there - put at its most simplest.
On another level, my girlfriend 'leaks' - badly, at times. She might only have to hear my voice, and she starts....!

Being a bloke i cant answer this through personal experience of the feelings. It is surely when they are enjoying the experience and if it feels nice they are turned. They also produce vaginal fluids as a result but i guess a woman is better to answer this than me.
