They should not pay for circumcision because it is an elective surgery not a necessary surgery. If they pay for it the premiums go up for everybody. It is hard enough to get insurance to pay for things that are necessary.
Circumcision is an unnecessary surgery. It doesn't cure or prevent any disease. It is just done so that a little boy will look like his dad, or because his mother thinks it will be easier for her. None of the reasons have any medical merit nor anything to do with love.
This is your son, your child, give him the same welcome to the world you would give your daughter. Hold him to your breast and love him, don't hand him to someone to be mutilated.
No circumcisions before age 18.
His body. His choice.

most insurance companies will not cover circumcision. it is considered cosmetic, and unnessesary. my doctors office called me in when i was about four months along and asked me if i planned on having the procedure done if i had a boy, since my husband was circumcised i had all three of my boys circumcised , i knew ahead of time that my insurance would not cover it so i was able to make payments until it was paid in full, before my boys were born.

Yes, they paid for it while we were still in the hospital. I was told that if we were to do it later that we would pay a $50 co-pay. All insurance is different. You should call your provider.
Hope this helps.

it's hard to answer this question, because all insurances are different. Mine did. I think it's a good idea to call your insurance and ask them if they pay for it or not. To make sure before you go and have it done, to only find out that they don't cover it and you have to pay for it. I had all five of my sons circumcized, so I think you should call your Insurance place and ask before you go and have it done. And if they don't cover it, i'd call your dr. or hospital to find out the cost ahead of time and then you'll have your dission to make. Weather or not to do it.

Back 24 years ago when I had my son I also didn't have health insurance. I had him through a low-income clinic and had to pay $50 to have it done.
