Beyonce or J-Lo. Real women have curves. I am so tired of seeing these disgustingly thin women. It's not good for young girls.

Yes. Even though someone said in the answers that no-one makes girls copy these people that is so untrue. This is the image forced upon us by media all over the place. Women (and increasingly men) have developed eating disorders to try and live up to an unrealistic ideal. Many models have very boyish figures at any rate (no waist to speak of). It is so nice to see boobs, bums and thighs on a woman ( I do not mean obesity either) and men tend to go for that anyway. We really should not be judged on our looks - and woman unfortunately are more so than men. Why is that? I do like beauty and beuty is only beauty because it is so rare. The majority of us are pretty ordinary looking. This is no bad thing. Women like Salma Hayek, Charlotte Church, Emma Bunton, Jennifer Ellison are good examples of curvy and beautiful women. All different all lovely.

i think models with a low body mass index should be banned. it has become to widely accpeted to look up to walking skeletons. every girl i know feels pressure to be skinnier, myself included. i am not even overweight. when the catwalk is filled with the image of "real women" i am sure the number of women and men afflicted with eating disorders and body image issues will decline. the same goes for celebrities that are severely under weight, but at the same time their pictures are pasted all over magazines and the television.

i would like to see all different shapes and sizes on the catwalk. everyone from oprah to scarlett johansen to cameron manheim to uma thurman. i think the fashion industry should cater to all women, not just 6 ft. tall 110lbs. women.

I suppose it's possible for some models to be genetically inclined without abusing their bodies and eating properly to have a low bmi but they are extremely rare. The model's overall health should be the standard. Someone who is using drugs to maintain their low weight should be banned from modeling and put in a mental hospital to cure their body dismorphic disorder or drug addiction. Models should represent the real people who would buy the clothing.

YES !!!! Are we finally starting to realize that this is not what a woman is supposed to look like ? I Think these anorexic girls they use on the catwalk are disgusting. Without their clothes they are skin covered skeletons. It is definitely unfortunate and unhealthy for young girls to think they have to look like this to be acceptable or sexy. Better role models, for example, would be Jessica Alba, Jennifer Lopez,or Angelina Jolie. I know most women don't look like these women, but at least they won't ruin their health, mind, and body to try to look like the anorexic girls of the catwalk.

Sure let's ban skinny models because some people (women) do stupid things to look like that. Then let's ban burritos because some stupid people gorge themselves on them. While we're at it, let's ban alcohol because some stupid people hurt or kill themselves and other by abusing it. let's not forget to ban bathtubs because some stupid people hurt themselves and even drown in them. Do you see a pattern here?

No, we don't need another intrusion into our lives form the government. Any government. Nobody make the models stay as skinny as they do. Nobody makes girls try to emulate those models. Nobody makes you go to fashion shows or look at the pictures in a magazine. Do you see another pattern?

If people, especially liberals, would stop blaming others for their actions (or inactions) and begin to take responsibility for themselves, the entire world would be a better place.

My choice of a model would be Lis Wheil, one classy lady.

BMI is extra of a coaching guide - a muscular athletic man or woman can actually have a BMI indicating that they are overweight. So, what it really is mandatory to examine your average well being and health. yet when you're anxious flow to a healthcare professional and/or nutritionist.

Models should have to be above a certain BMI. I like Angelina Jolie and J. Low. They are real bodies.

Yes of course they should. They should have to fall in a certain category, My sister was a model and they would never eat and they would do coke all the time to keep thier weights down. It was crazy and if you ask her today she says there was too much pressure to be skinny and it made her a mental case.

Are you a bit porky? Is that why you are jealous of the models bodies?

Would you feel better about yourself if Rosanne Barr was the industry standard for modeling?
