Do you have insects or do you have a fungus affecting your plant?

Before you go out there and waste any money, you should really figure out what the problem is! Take a sample to your local extension office and they can tell you what you have, AND can also recommend a control product for you!

If you have insects, they will recommend and insecticide. If it's a fungus, they'll recommend a fungicide. They might even recommend pruning or other cultural control to get rid of the problem, so you might not even have to spray anything!

Bonide makes Fruit Tree Spray that contains a fungicide and a insecticide so you only spray one product to take care of two problems. Other manufacturers make it too--I just don't know the names.

To get really nice fruit you have to do a lot of work. You have to spray every 10-14 days because both the insectidide and fungicide are topical chemicals--they do not penetrate the fruit. This is good. But it also means the rain washes it off. So you have to stay after it. Call your local good lawn & Garden center to check on the availability. Normally you start spraying in the spring.
