my 13 year old daughter was the victim of sexual harrassment by a 14 year old boy. he put his hand down her blouse and grabbed her....it was a traumatic experience for her. we live rurally. she's in 4H and attends church and is not as mature for her age as some. she came home crying and shaken. we reported it to the police. the boy was already on probation for drugs. as a result, the boy faces criminal consequences. to avoid going to court his attorney wants to know what we want to settle. i asked her and she doesn't understand how money is going to take away the experience. i explained that this is how things are handled in this society. if we were in the middle East he would be minus a hand.
the question is what monetary amount would be fair. i suggested $500.00. a hundred for each finger. thank you for your input.

If you are going to settle for a monetary amount, you must make it an amount that he will remember paying the next time he even thinks about something like this.......it needs to be in the thousands at the very least. Like the suggestion above me states, he should also do some community service in a womens shelter or in some other service organization that helps women. He needs to learn that women are not toys, and deserve his respect. The kids also needs to get some counseling....if he doesn't change his ways now, he will only get worse as he gets older.

I think that is terrible what he did. But, seriously what is money going to do? That is not going to fix anything, it will just drag it out and i think that will be more painful for your child. I think you both should seek counseling and realize that his punishment will be enough. Why does everyone wanna file a lawsuit for single thing that happens? Unfortunetly that is how society is but, it should be that way. I know you want to pay him back but, how would you feel is someone was suing you for some stupid mistake that your daughter made even though she was already being punished? You would get upset, right and you would wonder how would money take the pain away?

Be very careful with this lawyer ....he could be trying to trap you into taking a settlement then use it against you...saying you are only out for money! I personally would not want this kid around my daughter anymore and I would ask that he is removed from the school . If the school board refused to do that ,then I would only take a big settlement so that I could move my daugther out of that school! I would want way more than $500 if this happened to my daughter. What does the father think?

Oh by the way , this was not harassment ...it was ASSUALT!

you need to call the police IMMEDIATLY and have him picked up for sexually assulting your daughter, that will help the judge revoke his probation and send him away for awhile . please do not take this comment offensivly but, you as a parent should know that money is NOT the issue/object. the point being that this punk learn a lesson and DO NOT settle for $500.00.Make him and or his parents pay for her counseling the rest of her life.

anyone who causes trauma and distress to another human being should pay the price . my daughter and i have been victims of a sadistic ex partner and what he has put us through you would never belive he has turned our normal world upside down i live behind bomb blast and alarms on my windows a bomb bag attachted to my letter box cctv camaras on my home .cars have been scratch windows screens smashed every few weeks .. we live in fear of whats coming next !! and all because my daughter finished with ... so yes take the money bye your daughter something nice to try cheer her up ... because me and my daughter are still living as if were in a jail in our own home . all because of a sadisitic unbalanced pyscotic scum bag . it has had a very bad effect on both our healths and last week my daughter lost her job because of the stress it has caused her .. so yes they deserve to pay for what they do to decent human beings ,

I would get an agreement done up that they will pay for so many sessions of therapy for her or something. Just cash won't do anything for her, and won't teach the boy anything either.
