A macaque is a type of monkey. Pretty HUGE coincidence that he happened to make up exactly the same word, at exactly the right racist moment. Now, it is possible that his racism is SO inbred, that he never questioned it, it was just second nature. But to outright LIE that he made up that word? Glad he isn't one of MY choices...

As an outsider to this (I hold no brief for or against Allen) I don't know first hand whether he is racist or not, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. I have never heard the word 'macaca' before - or if I have heard it I didn't know what it meant. Sometimes you hear a word often without understanding it, and it just pops into your mouth.
I remember once as a caddy master in a Quebec golf club, I used the local expressioin for a 'drunk'. I said to a caddy: the equivalent of 'Here, take this drunk' , referring to a client. I thought I was saying something totally different. My popularity with the caddies went way up, but it was totally unmerited.
Could something like that have happened to Allen?

George Allen's dad was drummed out of the NFL for being a racist. His mom is from Tunisia where the term "macaca" is used by whites like the "n" word is used here. Yeah he just made it up. This guy is a confederate flag waving PIG and a perfect representative of the Republican party.

Allen is know to be a racist, something he was proud of until he ran for public office. SOmetimes the truth comes out. Realize that Virginia permits drivers to choose license places with the Confederate flag on it.

No, and he's given several other improbable explanations, like a true Republican.
Here's one you may not have heard: Ed Gillespie, the former RNC chair said Allen couldn't have been referring to the monkey species Macaque because it lived in Asia, not North Africa!
On Chris Matthew's show last night they aired a tape of Allen saying one day that his mother was of French and Italian heritage. The absolute next day, he said his mother was Jewish, and that he was proud of his Jewish roots!
Someone below says this is just another character attack. Sorry, but being a lifelong racist is relevant to Allen's ability to represent the people of his State. Ever hear of the Solid South and Jim Crow?

Kind of reminds me of the "porch monkey" thing in Clerks 2. (a good movie).
I think it's a term his mother used, that he didn't understand the meaning of it and thought he was just making it up.

Never heard of the word until this all started..,liberal lefts again prove a case in point where they attack his character and dont have the intellegence to debate his views on politics. He got the name wizard from playing Football in college and many of his teammates and fellow collegemates have clairifed that the man has never showed any racism that they could remember.

I believe it's quite possible that he made up the word, but either way, it still shows his insensitivity to race issues.
