I have a big project that I procrastinated on and now is coming due. Unfortunately, I am not going to finish it on time so I was wondering if anyone had an great excuse to use as to why it is not completed.

its simple- tell them you ran into unforeseen problems, (eg. research took to long, materials took longer to get to you, materials were wrong type, team didnt have the same vision and it took longer to get on the same page)

look at your project piece by piece and look for things that could have went wrong in each area- then say some of them did, try to gather evidence to support these problems

The only GREAT excuse is the truth. tell them you didn't get it completed and would be great full if possible to have an extended date to have it completed. Honesty is the best policy.

You say, "I'm sorry, I'm lazy and don't appreciate having a job. You were foolish for giving me any responsibility and I hope you do better in the future."
