Wow! What a formidable question! I love questions of this nature. I just signed on in I was looking for philosophical questions about religion. Boy, what luck! He goes my answer...enjoy!
I noticed that you put "god" in lower case so I know that you are looking for an answer in the perspective of the realities that we create ourselves. God is a hypothesis relative and proven by the individual. One would have to stand outside his truth in order to answer the question justly. Now, in order to answer your question, one would first need to define man. Man is a mixed bag of complexities. The following attributes come to mind: moral, immoral, oppressed, oppressor, deceivers, thieves, killers, warmongers, bullies, altruistic, adulterous, compassionate, self-righteous, malevolent, benevolent, unconscionable, remorseful, greedy, spiteful, helpful, and loving. Based on what is going in the world today, and to be literal, there is far more evil than good. But, man can change this truth. So, if man is made in "god's" image that would make "god" a complexity of good and evil capable of both good and evil.

What it day to me is that God wanted man to be as prefect as him so he made them in is image. It also say that God is an awesome being just think he did not just make man but he made the world.

I have to laugh when I see answers that suggest God is male, or that he looks like human beings.
Taking scriptures in their literal meanings is a bit like paint by numbers. Sure, you end up with a picture, but not really art.
My interpretation of that line is that God gave mankind certain characteristics in common with God. For example, the abillity to feel emotions, to reason, to think for ourselves, ...etc.
How we use these gifts is up to each of us. We can choose to feel anger or to love. We can chose to be kind or to be unkind. We can chose to be critical or accepting.
As for God's "image", I don't believe he has a physical image either like that of a human male or female. Probably is of a type we would find very hard to even conceive, if at all.

That God has made man special above all creation. Each man has a spirit in the likeness of God housed in flesh which we are now in. We get to see it only when we stop breathing.

what a great question!
everything in the world is meant to teach us about God and about ourselves. God is creative, He's capable of emotions, He is compassionate and can feel the pain of others, He likes to communicate and He's happy when we talk to Him. The reason we refer to God in a masculine sense is because a lot of His characteristics are masculine in nature. He's our Father. He created a difference between man and woman so that He could better help us understand the aspects of Himself. A Father is strict, and protective, He provides security and boundaries. Of course God has feminine characteristics as well-- He's nurturing, and sympathetic. But, in general, mankind is feminine to God's masculinity. We don't play the same function, but our relationship is complimentary.
It's complex but then it's simple.

Why are you questioning what God does? He doesn't owe you anything! We on the other hand owe Him our praise and worship. You're in the wrong category too.

It means that he made us to reflect some things about him. Like you might paint a picture to show how you feel/what you enjoy doing.
