Good question for the liberals on this board...apparently, it doesn't get to them. I myself find it disgusting that people can just sit home, do nothing, though they are capable, and make a living out of it. I guess they lack pride? I hear you though...it's very frustrating.

I agree I don't like it either. But that is the way it has been you years and years and years. We make it so easy for people to be recipients of welfare and SS that why should they work and most do not want to take jobs that are available because they are manual labor or menial jobs. We also allow for people to get benefits because they are alcoholics or drugs addicts which I don't consider a disability that is a life choice. There are generations of families that are on welfare and they will continue generations after. I don't know how to change it either. Voting Republican isn't the answer because they have funded just as many programs as the democrats.

If you think welfare is so great get on it. The facts are, take away welfare, crime goes up..... you see..people have this strange thing about them its called, "to survive by any means necessary".
Don't under estimate the human will to have necessaties met. Its as natural as applepie to Americans!
Most arguements like this one are usualy onesided, one dementional. It was a democrat that created welfare reform, wich saved altot of money for the country but sent alot of single mothers out from there homes from being able to care for their kids after school, to be on a job that still connot make ends meet. Now what happens to that kid......he or she runs the streets. How is that benefitting any one. Yhea, it benifits the ones who have the illusion that welfare is so great.

Almost anyone could sit on their butt all day, live in squalor, live off public assistance, but most people have to much pride and self-respect to do that. I can understand that there are good reasons why some people need some assistance, but when the system is abused the way it is it's time for an overhaul.

I keep hearing about this "people sitting on their butts while I work" line of propaganda. Do you actually know anyone who is qualified to work who is not? Was not welfare reformed in the 90 so that there is only 5 years of benefits. That, of course, before they pulled the rug out for everyone by outsourcing so many jobs.

Notice how they've got you resenting those who are living lives of luxury on welfare (!) but not those who sit around collecting dividend checks, or partying it up on inherited money that they didn't earn, and they give tax breaks for that! And they've been trying to exempt people like that from taxes entirely! I notice also that you don't resent corporate CEO's who get tens of millions a year even while running their companies in the ground! But go right on resenting those who get the lavish sums that welfare provides! That way, the rich slugs are off your radar screen!

Like the health insurance she's getting is anywhere NEAR the quality of yours. She isn't working. She can't (assumtion ahead) afford a whole helluva lot. She deserves health care just as much as you do.
I don't think anyone should have to pay for health insurance anyway. No one should have to panic about not being able to afford their own survival.

Its called special interest groups and play to win votes. Do you people really think it would make a difference if its a Democrat or Republican in office. Bottom line is, they just want to their party to stay in power. They will give a little here and a little there but ultimately, they will cater more to the largest votig demographics and the largest pocketbook.
