We started as soon as we learned we were pregnant at 12 weeks and finally decided on his name about a month before he was born. It still wasn't until he was actually born that we decided on his middle name. It was a decision between two names both of which were to honor my father and since we already chose a second middle name (to honor his ethnic heritage) we had to narrow it down (two middle names were enough for me).

My husband and I annoy some people because we refused to decide on a name before the baby was born. Once we found out the sex of the baby (around week 22) we started making a list that we would take to the hospital. We just felt like we couldn't name someone we had never met before...We needed to see them, touch them, hold them, and smell them....basically get a sense of who they are. With my first we were told by the nurse we could go home as soon as we filled out the birth certificate...then the pressure was on to make a final decision. I don't regret our method...as a matter of fact we are doing the same for our son that is due in 6 weeks. It annoys some of our friends and coworkers, but it works for us.

not long, after i found out that i was having a girl it took me and my hubby a week.

my niece she had 2 names ( 1 boy / 1 girl ) she was just in love with. well when she had her baby she changed the name she said that it just did not sound right when the baby was born.

i think everyone is different so don't be alarmed if it takes until the baby is born befor the 2 of you picks out a name.

With my first about 2 seconds. My mom had just died before I got pregnant so that was a no brainer. Picked a name I liked since high school, tacked it in front of my mothers first and middle name and that was that. With my second it took about 2 monthsfor the first name. I picked a unisex name that kinda went with her sisters and after we found out she was a girl, about a month to decide on middle names. Had my sons name picked out before he was concieved. He is my third but my husband's first so he was planned for and waited on.

We picked a name by the 4th month of my pregnancy, but I have a coworker who didn't choose the name until the cab ride to the hospital on the day of delivery. It's all very personal!

With each it took a day or two after birth to pick a name. We seem to need to meet the baby first for some reason.

It took us about a month to figure out the first name, but we still haven't decided on a middle name! I'm 28 weeks pregnant, so I still have a little time left!

It took us about seven months. We had so many names picked out but I really wanted to name him after his father but he didn't like that. So I found a way to get atleast part of his name in there, lol.

I had twins and I knew my daughter's name (name I loved with my mom's name as her middle) as soon as I learned I was having a boy and girl. My son I knew his middle name immediately (my father's middle name - he passed away 3 years ago) but I went back and forth about his first name. After he was born I originally went with one, but within seconds my mom asked me if I was sure and I said no and changed it! 8^)
So now I have Isabella Jayne and Xander Lee!!
