I have to say I am seriously embarassed to say I am Irish after our Taoiseach gave a cringing interview regarding the payments he received in the 1990s. He says he had no bank account in his name at the time. What a load of crap. He received political donations which he tried to pass off as "a loan from friends". He later appointed these friends to well paid positions. He also tried to divert all his attention toward his family problems. The CAB should now investigate him for his behaviour & he should resign. What an idiot he is.

Sadly, he's a very crafty idiot... wasn't it Charlie Haughey ( another reprobate Taoiseach) who said of Aherne that he was the wiliest and most trecherous of the lot?? As a Northerner recently returned from having resided full time in Swords just outside Dublin, for 10 years I have to say I am at a loss as to how anyone still buys into the 'Oirish' 'charm ' and 'old country'crap they're still peddling. The Southern Irish are disingeuous, materialistic, inherently rascist, corrupt to the core, hypocritical, and are a monumental disgrace to allwho they purport to 'work' for in that despite enjoying unimaginable wealth their health care system is 3rd world; their education system sees children using classrooms that civilised countries would refuse to allow their children to attend due to dereliction, fungal infection etc I do not, obviously, group you or all of the Irish population with these scum of society, but the sad reality of it is that 'The Irish Mafia' of which Bertie Aherne is a fully paid up member, is responsible for the irish poor becoming even poorer whilst these parasites become hugely wealthy through double-dealing and lying. No doubt Bertie will be in the front pew at chapel and confession to unburden himself of his latest (found out) lies and therein lies the problem. those with the money don't care and those without have no voice. Hang heads in shame!!

I'm afraid Big Bird is mainly right, though no Northerner has any right to look down on us. They're just the same, only worse, and their better services are only due to their belonging to the UK, otherwise Catholics still would have no services other than those provided by the church.

Why do you call Bertie an idiot? The only really idiotic thing was to admit that he had his friends appointed to public bodies because they were his friends, as if that made it any better than appointing them because he owed them money.
If the documents had not been leaked he would still be high and dry on his moral high horse.

I am not Irish but I agree, but there is one simple fact to face up to politicans are all corrupt, they are in in for power, position cause they need to pluff up their own egos.

Will the republic sort it out? The likelyhood is no. Like the UK there will be the old boy network and backhanders.

I apologise if you are a devout Catholic, but just look at the number of times the Republic has turned a blind eye to the sexual and other crimes of the church.

We all know what is right, but that does not mean that the moral and decent things happen.

almost all of my questions are Harry Potter polls/surveys. in which case, i do not ideas them. because Harry Potter isn't a unusual obsession =) (in my eyes, it isn't) i will admit, some were somewhat stupid although. i do not trust I had any Twilight-bashing questions yet I actually had some nastily mean Twilight-bashing comments, which i'm no longer pleased with :/ Ah, the HP vs. Twilight conflict.. oh goodness :P

All the tribunals of all the politicians with memory loss I have seen.
Does anyone ever really get prosecuted?

Irish politicians really do believe they are above the law.
