An armadillo has not only dug small holes all over my yard, it has dug a trench approximately 8 inches in diameter and ??? inches long. It is at least 20 inches long based on a two by six board that I shoved up in it.

your only option is to either kill, or trap and remove the animals.

armadillos are resistant to every form of pest control, including underground sonic emitters (which work against moles) and predator urine (like fox or coyote urine and such).

you might consider buying mole traps.

Do not use poison of any kind.

Call the local animal control and see if they will give you a trap. It's possible once the armadillo is in the trap, they will come pick it up for you.

In a perfect world, trapping and moving the armadillo to another location would work. Unfortanately, killing them is about the only real way you know it won't be back.

Put the trap at the door and try smoking it out with magazines or something else you can light that won't burn quickly. You might try "pulling" it out with a hoe and having a box/trap ready to put it in. They have very long claws so be careful...

They forage by digging. If you eliminate the food source, they will simply move on. Get an insecticide to kill off grubs and ants or any insects in your yard. Just by killing the armadillos will not solve the problem, more will come as long as the food source is there.

i think the note is out that your backyard has the finished grubs round and armadillos DO communicate. it truly is what they are there for, the grubs. And even as they could be doing you a service by eliminating them, the collateral damage is quite stunning, as evidenced by your backyard. I recommend eliminating the worms, and the armidillos will go elsewhere.

I would guess getting a dog or cat. There may be some repellents that you can by at the local farm supply store.
