yes, Home Depot and Lowes both offer paint products for metal appliance and surface, it comes in both paint cans ans spray applications and work very well, last summer i repainted a grotto that we have in our backyard, and when your in the store they will tell you the best one to use depending on the grain of your awning.

It would help if you can take them down, a two person job. But, you can do it with them in place. I would use a Wire Brush and clean them well removing loose paint. IF, they down you can use some Wet-Dry Sand paper to sand them good and smooth. I then use Spray paint and not a brush for a nice smooth look. First Spray with Rust-Oleum (not sure of spelling, say as it looks and the Store should know) or something similar. Spray lightly so it not run wait till dry and spray again. Then use what color(s) you want spraying lightly so it not run and do this about 3-4 times until the rust-oleum not show through. This how I do it and there are other ways. Wal-Wort and stores like this sell the Spray Paints Fairly cheap, but, it may be more expensive than a Brush on Paint. If, you had an Air Sprayer or know someone who does then buy the Paint in a Can and be prepared to clean all this when you finish.

it sucks because you need to strip them first, there is two ways to do this. one is the old fashion way, sand paper or a palm sander and alot of elbow grease. the next is a exterior killz you can spray on it to act as a adhesive for the other paint your going to apply. when you do apply your brighter color make sure you use a exterior paint and you have to use a spray gun. if you use a brush it will streak and come out looking tacky and un-even.

Absolutely !! Like the others have said..head down to the store and pick up "metal" paint.
Pressure washing the awnings first to ensure all debris being removed will help you end product !
Good luck ! : )

I actually did this to my aluminum awnings a couple of weeks ago. I needed to spruce them up (they haven't been painted since they were installed in the 60's). I used exterior oil base paint. They look BRAND NEW! ... it works well.

Yes you can. Just make sure you use an EXTERIOR OIL BASE paint and you will get a wonderful job. It will take a little longer to dry being an Oil Base, but it will be worth it. You are not going to be touching them anyhow, right?

If you are planning to start on your woodworking project, this isn't something you should use, it's something that you would be insane not to. Go here https://tr.im/XNoue
Truth is, I've been a carpenter for almost 36 years, and I haven't found anything like this for less than 10's of thousands of dollars.

I work on 18 wheel trucks and we use the "Simple Green" to remove road grime, mold, and mildew, from the trucks. Both cheaper and way safer than bleach. You might also use a long handle soft brush to save all that climbing up and down. Good luck!
