Yes, once while i was observing pipe-fish populations on a wharf, in shallow water, in port Phillip bay (melb, Australia), i was stupidly in a short sleeve wet suit rather than a full body one, and it got my lower arm. They really do hurt alot, but of all of the times I've swam/dived with them, this is the only one that has ever stung me.

no, but I got stung by a jellyfish. I've heard stingray stings are not very harmful

no I personally haven't in my two times swimming with them which I can't wait to do again. I love those creatures despite the freak occurance that killed Steve Irwin. My mom did get a nice hickey from one once.

Yes. The barb went through the meat of my ankle but not through the tendon when I was 12.
Bled for quite awhile.

Hurt like hell.
