the sun how would the light intenisty compare with that on eart. I say the light would be 4x as far away. How would it compare to a planet that is 10x as far away. I think the light would be 1/100th away as opposed to 1/4th. Am I correct? (Inverse-square law)

If I understand the wording of your question correctly, then the answer is yes. If you are twice as far away, light is 4 times less bright or 1/4 as bright. If you are 4 times as far away, light is 16 times less bright or 1/16 as bright. If you are 10 times as far away, light is 100 times less bright of 1/100 as bright. If you are N times as far away, light is N*N times less bright or 1/(N*N) as bright.

If you are on a planet that is half as far away as the Earth is from the Sun, then you would get 4 times the intensity of light per unit area. If you were on a planet twice as distant, then you would get 1/4 of the light intensity. A planet 10 times further gets 1/100 of the light intensity per unit area.
