Actually the figures are lower. It's more like 36% that still support George Walker Bush, and a few of them probably are naive, but most of them are quite stubborn.
With all the facts that have finally come out, and with the major revolt he is facing from the Military leaders, there is not much of an excuse left for naivety.
For the stubborn ones, if God himself, came down from the Heavens and told them they were wrong about the Shrub, they'd still not change their minds.

Conservatives believe in battle over BS, while liberals prefer to appease the opponent and hope for a good outcome. And we have a large group of in-betweens who don't have much of an opinion one way or another.
40% support doesn't not translate to 60% no support. The other 60% may be divided up into those who are against and those who have no opinion. Support or Undecided may be the majority. Are you playing games with statistics?
Probably we should decide if Iraq is our friend or not.

Some people are just stubborn and ignorant. Basically the types that listen to Rush like he's a god. You can throw all the facts you want in their face, but the ability to comprehend logic is simply beyond them.

these are the core conservatrives that we must overcome in the elections .Remember all government workers want republicans in office who spend like there is no tomorrow on huge projects .$100,000,000 schools thats right a hundred million dollar school .
They had to slow prison growth and spending cause americans got tired of seeing the 100's of millions being spent and crime still as prevelent as always .Today that money goes to defense and education .Without upgradding the level of teachers what good does the 100 million dollar school do .
Kids in other nations learn from teachers not fancy buildings .

Sadly, they are part of the citizenship who get there information from the disinfotainment system we call the media. They hear ten minutes of "news" on the Idiot Box at 6 or 10,read a few slanted Opinion pieces in the local rag,and think they know it all.Or, more likely, they don't give a **** as long as they can afford gas to get to the Na scar Races, and the nearest Walmart.

80% of Americans supported the war when we went in. That means 40% of Americans are weak kneed. They jumped the fence at the first sign of trouble. We can not start a war and then walk away before it is finished. I support the war now because I supported the war then. When Iraq has a new army and a complete police force, the war will be over and our troops can come home.

The type of people who help the targets of the president is a good distance better than the form of people who help the president. The political climate contained in america, somewhat now, on the beginning up of a clean presidential election cycle is so risky that partisans are tempted to toss out their concepts and their real ideals approximately what's great for the rustic and the international places we help in want of political benefit. regrettably, the clicking and many politicians are in want of failure in Iraq if that is going to serve the objective of undermining the president. they have some adolescent concept that unfavourable him someway elevates them. the rustic isn't properly served by ability of the the political propaganda we are experiencing.

The news service doesn't penetrate far into Scottsdale - plus the residents are all out on the golf course - they all think Sadam actually did have WMD and that we are wiining the war in Iraq (they haven't heard of the war in Afghanistan).

if i thought it was a screwup and fiery tempers that led us there ... and then now its too late to just leave without "finishing the job" .. then i would be for the war .... but personally i think we will NOT leave the middle east period and that instead we will increase our presence there until at least iran and syria are brought into line with US policy ... and permanent military bases in the middle east will never go away for decades even if the fighting stops ....

Perception is greater than reality.
And a lot of people buy into the far-right Bush ideology and believe without questioning.
But then, so do a lot of folks on the far left.
Where the hell are the middle-ground candidates that this country desperately needs?
