First of all, how old are you?
If you are under 15, then you are out of luck. Most places won't do body piercings on people under 15, even with the required parental consent.
If you are high school age, then all you can do is sit down and talk to them about what you want, and why you want it. Don't use peers and friends as examples. They aren't the parents of anybody else but you (and any siblings if you have them.) Be as clear and concise as you can. Show them that you are responsible enough to handle it, and take care of it properly. Don't make them nag you to do your homework, make your bed, clean your room, or any other chores. Don't break curfew, hide things form them, or lie about anything. If you can show them that you are willing to take responsibility, and be mature, they might decide to go with you to at least talk to the piercer about the process, dangers, and see the conditions of the place.
Don't hold your breath though, if they are against it, there isn't much you can say or do that will change their minds. You will just have to wait until you are 18.

If you are 18, you don't need permission. However, if you are under 18 you should present to your parents why you want the specific piercing. Also, make sure that it isn't against your school's dress code because that could be a reason that they turn you down. You need to show them that you are mature and that you can handle making decisions like this.

i always just went ahead and did it and never asked cause my parents were too uptight. I have piercings and tats. Now my daughter i let her have permish because and this is WHY... tell your parents that if you don't get it done professionally it could be fatal if done at the hands of an amatuer. if someone or you pierce your tongue and hit the wrong place you can be paralyzed for good or even die.. I pierced my friends ears once and she ended up in the emetrgency room with sepsis (blood poisoning) tell your parental units the places are licensed and inspected. hey visit one together make it a family outing take pictures and for heaven's sake; make sure you TIP YOUR PIERCER; because you will be back this IS addictive (don't tell the parents THAT)
they have a sign where I get all my work done:
Tipping is not just a city in China! good luck keep it clean. let it heal and it will be BEE YOO TEE FULL... p.S after over 10 years my Mom still cannot stand the sight of my tongue ring but rreally thinks my tats are pretty

I have a 12yr old daughter.
I have 10 piercings and 7 tats.
She will not be allowed to have any kind of body art or piercings until she is out of high school. Plain and simple. I am an adult and I have worked hard to earn the money I blew on my tats and piercings. But I did not do it before I moved out on my own and I believe that only adults should have the choice to get them done.

I say ask for something bigger that you know they would totally oppose to (perhaps a tattoo since its permanant)...wait for the negative reaction then ask for what your really want and make sure to add all the advatages to the piercing...ie. It can be taken out etc... They'll compare what you asked for the second time to the first one and just may agree....(its a psychological tecnique)

Make the best case for why you want it. Tell them it is safe and common, and you will take good care of yourself. HAVE FACTS about the procedure and the (low, I assume) incidence of infection. Tell them why you think you are mature enough, and maybe even offer something in return to them - take on a new chore that will also show you are responsible and will let them have more free time.
I don't know how old you are, but these are the best ideas I have. Unfortunately, they have the final say until you 18.
Good luck.

Get a job and save your money. Once you have enough money ask your parents if you can get pierced.

be honest and respectful they will appreciate both and are more likely to give you permission for some if not all. nothing pisses off a parent more than to be ordered or asked rudely for something .

Depends on where it is.
First off just say, i really like when people have _____ pierced. Then if they say something negitive just say, oh well i was just thinking it was cute and kinda wanted it. But if it's positive say, What would you think it would look like on me? Then go in for the kill and ask.

Explain to them that you are ready to bring out the best in your personality and you think the best way to express yourself is with piercings.
