How about
5+5+5 <= 550
I think if you add a small line to the first + sign you can change it into a 4, transforming the equation into 545+5=550 which is a true statement.
or another way
Draw a line on the first plus sign. This turns it into a 4! The equation then becomes true:
545+5=550

You didn't say 5 what, so...
5 x 100 = 500
5 x 5 = 25
5 x 5 = 25

Total 550

No, because your statement is untrue. 5 + 5 + 5 = 15.
For what it's worth, 5 + 5 + 5 is meaningless in base 5 because the largest digit is 4, but the number 15 written in base 5 is 30.
