no. they are dying for US corporate control of oil and US govt strategic influence in the area (permanent military bases are being built in iraq - the number of countries with US bases is well over 100)

I believe that the soldiers dying in Iraq are giving their lives because of a war that was based on a lie. If Dubya had really cared about making our country safer, he would have focused more on capturing Osama bin Laden. Instead, he's made the world an even more dangerous place with this damned war.

Yes and No.

I think they're brave in their drive. They truly do love their country and it's people, and truly do WANT to help us by defending us.

But they're misguided and manipulated by the people who think going and killing is valiant and honorable, when it's no different than pulling a shot gun and taking out your neighbor. I can't possibly think of a better example of this than the rationalized anti-Islam fest we're throwing right now.

These brave people are out risking their lives and doing harm, under the belief that they're saving us, when they really should be safe at home, putting their good intent to better use.

I feel the soldiers are giving their lives (physically and emotionally) for a big fat admin screw up that they don't want to admit.

Hmmmm, admit we f*ed up and save people or not and save our asses until we're out of office...tough one.

The fact that you're asking this question in English, with the freedom of to say what you want - should give you your answer. If you don't have anyone in your family that's a veteran, I'll tell you to find one and thank them. History often reveals the big picture, but I can say that we have Freedom from protecting it....not by anyone giving it to us.

Yes! I do, because other wise they'd be here!

But also because they are performing an important function for our national interests in the region. Stabilizing it for further means!
