Yeah he called Bush the Devil but did anyone else find that funny. I got a good laugh at it. I think is stupid but so what Bush can dish out calling leaders of counties evil doers but when one bits back its unexecptable. If Bush is so hurt about it I dont see him cutting off oil trade with Chavez

He lowered oil prices to help out the eastern seaboard during the winter months. That made Bush look bad. Then, he called him the devil. Not enough to make me hate him, either.

EDIT Wait wait, he won't send ME any home made enchiladas either! Now, it's on...

"He's a dictator to his own people. He believes in socialism and has close ties to the Communist country, Cuba."

yes... of course. that's so much wrong-doing to America I can't believe it.

Dictating his own people and being socialist is HORRIBLE! You know... there are hundreds of other dictators and European countries are often socialist... but hey let's only yell at Chavez.

I dunno what he's done wrong. I want to find something too, so I'm putting this on watch. I really hope someone answers intelligently instead of just calling him a socialist dictator.

Ridiculous!

{edit}

"He wont send me any home-made enchiladas and that is not only mean but selfish and greedy! "

I agree with this one.

And everyone who's calling him a Communist as their argument. That's ridiculous. That's just like saying someone's doing something bad against America because they're black. It's his political beliefs and party and in the most basic form they don't involve destroying America or making fun of Bush.. That's who HE is... not his political party. Saying that if someone's Communist they should be hated is both closed-minded and ridiculous! You obviously can't find anything bad on him!

He has done nothing wrong to the American people. In fact, I'd like to thank him for saying what a lot of people in the world think. Also for providing some great laughs on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

Hugo Chavez, and his regime have done several things that harm American national interests.

First, Chavez has allowed the Columbian rebel groups FARQ and ELN to use Venezuelan territory as a safe haven and training base. This has significantly reduced pressure on these groups to negotiate seriously for a peace agreement with the Columbian government, and has prolonged that country's bloody civil war. This is bad for the US interest because both groups are listed as international terrorist organizations by the US State Department. FARQ has committed a greater number of individual acts of terror, including kidnappings and murders, against US citizens, than Al Qaeda. Furthermore, regardless of what you think of the US "War on Drugs", which has been of questionable efficacy, when the major cartels like that of Pablo Escobar were finally brought down by law enforcement in the mid-1990s, it was FARQ and the ELN, that stepped in to fill the drug trade vacuum, exchanging their quest for a Marxist revolution for the establishment of a narco-terrorist empire.

Second, the Chavez regime has seized, illegally, the property of American oil companies, by "nationalizing" their facilities without just compensation.

While it is easy to dismiss this act as only harming "big oil", this view neglects the clear disregard of property rights, and judicial due process which demonstrates the lack of committment to the concepts of civil rights and civil society which are the foundation of democracy. Democracy is more than just elections. Plenty of autocratic regimes hold elections, while effectively crushing all political opposition. Saddam Hussein was routinely "elected" president of Iraq by margins in excess of 95%.

The erosion of civil society in Venezuela is bad for both the people of Venezuela and the US. It is a vital US interest to promote free and democratic societies among our neighbors, not just out of altruistic feelings, but also a pragmatic pursuit of peace and prospertity. Also, more directly, the erosion of property rights will also adversely affect the people of the US and Venezuela by damaging efforts at free and fair trade between the US and Latin America. Hugo Chavez has also undertaken direct diplomatic efforts to prevent economic ties and trade between the US and the Latin American trade block Merocsur. In the case of Venezuela, we have an additional economic concern because Venezuela has been one of top exporters of oil to the US. Having such a large portion of our energy dependent on the whims of a dictator who is hostile the US and rountinely consorts with the leaders of terrorism sponsoring rogue regimes like Iran and North Korea, is obviously a bad thing.

He called President Bush the devil. And whether i like or agree with bush or not i still am going to stick up for him when he is getting "picked" on by other countries especially when he isn't there to even defend himself. And that was on live national television. That is why people hate him.

He is collaborating with Iran, and Cuba. He has collaborated with China for oil which may cut out supplies to US.
China gave him 5 billion dollars to explore for more oil.
He is using his hordes of money and oil, to influence SA to join him.

He has stated that he wants America to collapse. Does America include you and I?

To one of the answers, they do not eat enchiladas. When I returned from Venezuela, I went to the border and threw rocks at Mexico.

They are primarily European. I ate as much pasta there as anywhere, lots of great steaks. I spoke as much Italian as I did Spanish.

Venezuela has more cattle ranches and cowboys than does Texas.

He told off Bush. He has no business talking about are affairs, but it seems as though only people from other countries have the balls to say it. George Galloway, for instance.
