Try the following online travel agents and brokers
http://www.airline-network.co.uk/
http://www.cheapflights.co.uk/
http://www.ebookers.com/
http://www.expedia.co.uk/default.asp
Alternatively visit your nearest Flight Centre: http://www.flightcentre.co.uk/
Find out about BA World Offers as you may get a good deal there. You may also want to consider a charter flight if you want a cheap flight but you may find them uncomfortable particularly for long haul flights to Sydney. A google search on Charter Flights will give you several websites. I flew to Oz with Britannia 10 years ago - they were reasonable for £500 (cheapest deal at the time).

Try Emirates, they go from Gatwick and often have very good deals - flights go via Dubai. They are also one of the best airlines for service, meals etc.
Virgin Atlantic fly from there as well, via Hong Kong, and you may get an OK deal on them.
If you can go from Heathrow you have plenty more options - and much cheaper - try Japan Airlines, China Airlines, and Gulf Air for some bargains.

In Sydney you are able to enjoy the normal beauty. From unspoilt beaches to public gardens and, needless to say, the shining harbour, Sydney is really a town worth visited and with hotelbye you may have the opportunity to do that. The Sydney Harbour Bridge or "Coathanger," since the residents call it's one of the areas you should not miss in your journey here. This place was the city's best-known landmark ahead of construction of the Opera House. Reinforced by substantial double piers at each end, it absolutely was built in 1932 and stays the world's biggest steel arc link, linking the harbour's north and south shores within a curve growing 134 metros above the water. Along its length work two railway lines and seven lanes for road traffic, the direction of which can be different based on traffic flow. Also, to learn in regards to the exciting record of the bridge's structure you are able to look at the memorial in the south-eastern pier.

I think Emirates fly from Gatwick to Oz but not sure if they go to Sydney (I know they definitely go to Brisbane from Gatwick). They usually have quite decent prices, even if you book directly from their website. Plus they have cameras on the outside of the plane so you can have a pilots view as you fly and during take-off/landing ... fun!
