I'm assuming "modern day" means current of a year or two old, so I'll rule out the Sierras - in my book they already are classics.
(If cars from the 60s were classics in the 80s, then cars from the 80s can be classics now).
I'd have to say the Focus RS - limited numbers, considerable differences from the standard Focus, and a bit controversial (is that Quaife diff a good thing or not?).
Cup and Trophy versions of the Clio RenaultSport.
Leon CupraR
Undecided about the Astra VXR - it all depends how well it sells. If it is a sales flop, then classic status will be guaranteed, but if there are loads of them, maybe not.

How modern do you mean, last 5 yrs? 10yrs? 20 yrs?
Mk1 & 2 Golfs are already rising in value for good condition examples.
It partly depends on how much of a scene develops around a car, I personally don't like classic MGB's but I can understand why people buy them, parts are easy to get, even new body shells, and places that will repair and service them are plentiful too, the best driving classic in the world is no use if you can't fix it, or it cost thousands to service, which is why you see old exotic cars going for peanuts with very little wrong with them.

Not sure about that, but if you can find a standard 2/3 door sierra this is going to be sort after. It may sound stupid, but I have been told this by a reliable source (sorry cannot name them). The reason for this is because most 2/3 door sierras that were produced became cosworths, others were made to look like them, so standard ones are very rare!

2 dr sierra no such thing. the cossie with a wale tail was a 3dr and will set u bak on average £10.000 of course the rs 500 is much rarer and the second sierra cosworth was a saphire 4wd with 4dr's. I would say the orange focus st as u have to pay extra for that colour
