Wow that's amazing.
They have a device in the UK that emits a frequency too low for older people to hear but bugs and irritates gangs of teenagers, stopping them from hanging outside of shopping malls.
I can't wait to be old if it's the case that I won't be able to hear the majority of mobile phone ringtones. They're like a disease. Take them away from people and they absolutely freak out.
Whenever I have someone over and they pull out their phone and casually start texting as they're talking to me, I just want to hit them in the head.
I'm starting to rant so #1 - Nope, not seen the commercial, #2 - Couldn't tell you, I hate the things and #3 - It makes me wish I was old.

Not seen the commercial, but I'll watch for it. Could it have been a mistake?
I've heard something about the ringtones also, same sort of source.
Nah. I'm over 50. I've been old so long I've gotten used to it!
You sound like a sweetheart with a good mind. You'll age well!

I've seen the commercial, and there are not ringtones playing during that silence. You're ok there.
There are ringtones like what you are describing, and I find those difficult to hear, though I can still hear them.

yeah it was developed as a way to keep teenagers out of small stores, and is now a ringtone. Just a high frequency noise that is designed to annoy people. Kids use it on cell phones so they can have them on is school etc.

I saw that law and order show last night too and it reminded me of a news story about store owners putting these devises that make noises only kids can hear, supposedly they are high pitched and really annoying. So I guess it is possible that they have made a ring tone like that.

It's probably some trick to get people to buy their imaginary "ringtones". Your hearing probably is fine they are just greedy people trying to make money.

you can't hear it because your ears aren't sensitive enough to hear that high of pitch. doesn't mean your old, peoples ears change differently for everyone. It's also environmental. Does your workplace have allot of loud machinery? Do you live in a noisy downtown area? These factors greatly reduce your hearing capabilities. If your concerned about hearing loss, you should probably get your hearing tested.

I saw Law & Order last night, but don't know if I believe it, even though I've heard of it mentioned somewhere before. I think THAT is absolutely crazy. Not YOU...
