In general terms, 'organic chemistry' refers to the chemistry of carbon compounds. The term 'organic' came from the fact that initially, such carbon-containing compounds were extracted from once-living (or 'organic') materials. eg 'wood alcohol' (methanol) came from burning wood, formic acid/methanoic acid from ants, lactic acid from milk.
However, chemistry has progressed from experimenting with our natural surroundings to ascertain their composition. People have generated many millions of carbon-based compounds that were never extracted from naturally occuring 'organic' matter but synthesised in a lab. But these are equally 'organic chemicals'.
Footnote:
To be an organic chemical, a compound must contain carbon bonded to atoms including hydrogen, oxygen, phosphorus or sulphur. Typically carbon forms chains in the backbone of its molecules. Therefore, an organic compund will typically have two or more carbon atoms. However, some small molecules such as methanol or methanoic acid contain only one carbon atom, yet are still termed organic.
Other simple carbon compounds, such as formaldehyde (CH2O) are ambiguous - it depends who you ask as to whether they are interpreted as being organic or not.

the first devision of chemistry came from those made by organic systems - organic chem versus those not made by organic systems - inorganic chem. for a good long time people thought that what was created in nature could not be duplicated in the lab. the synthesis of uric acid changed that idea and organic chemistry was born

"organic" means "living". Almost all living things are made up of C,H,N,O,S. among these C and H are more pronounced in all the living things. So all the chemicals made up of C,H and O was called organic chemicals.
