The Senate Majority Leader is Bill Frist, M.D., Republican U.S. Senator from Tennessee and a licensed medical doctor. The minority leader is Harry Reid, Democrat Senator from Nevada. Vice President Dick Cheney is President of the Senate and theoretically the "tie breaker", although this has been largely meaningless in recent years.

In the US the Vice President of the United States is president of the Senate. The president of the senate does not usually vote on bills, but has the deciding vote in the case of a tie.
