I couldn't possible care less about celebrities but I really liked Oprah Winfrey until I realized she doesn't donate to any charities without making sure EVERYONE knows it. She's a publicity whore.

It's not the media. I stopped watching her show because every time she gave money to charity, she'd announce it on her show. Even if the show had nothing to do w/the charity.

You know, I use to watch Oprah a long time ago. I really did like her show. Now, I do not even bother watching the show unless there is a very interesting guest on, then I would watch her show.
I mean, the way she humiliated that writer because she thought that story was true about himself when he lied and said he made that up. The point that he was such an excellent story teller and, instead of saying it was 'fiction' saying it was 'non-fiction', Oprah still blasted him! Instead of just inviting him on the show and just simply asking him "Why did you distort the truth a little bit to make it more then it seems or Why did you elaborate further then what it was neccessary?" She just made him look like a total a-ss. And what did that prove?
Personally, I would have invited him back and had gotten to the core on why he did what he did in the first place. Was his original story (or the truth) not exciting enough? Was he on a deadline? Did he think saying these events happened to him make the book and him, more appealing? Maybe she could tell after that whether he was sincere and sorry or if he was a total prick!
No, she had to do what she did. Now she is going on a joy ride with her best friend. Whoopty, f-ucking do!

Donating to charity is donating to charity. She's donated anonymously before. Mostly it's the people's at the charity who go announcing "HEY LOOK WHAT OPRAH DID" She's been on television for over 10 years and she's a billionaire. I doubt she could get any more publicity from that than she already has.

I think Oprah does so much good for people, regardless of how she is perceived. She does a lot of charity work and helps so many people, if anything we need more people like Oprah. The money and fame might of gotten to her a little bit, but at least she is on the good side in my opinion.

all you people are just jealous. you wish you had what she has. she does not care if you like her not, millions of people all over the world do and she does alot of great things. although, i am not an Oprah fan and i never watch her show. alot of celebrities do things and it is in the news, look at bill gates and Angelina Jolie. so if you want to hate on Oprah, you need to call everybody out.

I don't think that is the case that Oprah donates to charities without everyone knowing about it....if anything she is trying to give the charity publicity that people will know about it so they can denote and help... Oprah does not have to impress anyone...she is very wealthy...but made it on her own....

she my friend is what is known as an opportunist first class. she is a capitalist who has learned how to accumulate a billion dollars without really doing nothing more than exposing herself to all medias. she is on tv, radio, film and printed magazines. not bad for someone who started with nothing i'd say. you got to imagine being in the right place at the right time. my beef is she takes herself way to seriously and the sheep that follow her are lemmings or so it appears to be. change the channels, read something else is my advice if she bothers you!

I can't believe so many of you are hating on Oprah! She can't help that when she makes donations other people want to publicize it. Wherever she goes there are camera's; she can't control other people. She has donated millions of her hard earned money! There are plenty of organizations that you don't even know about that she's given money to! Shame on you for assuming you know it all!

It seems like the fame is really getting to her head. I still like her, but she's getting to be too much. She really thinks that she is the Queen of this earth. Why shouldn't she though? Everyone makes her feel like she is.
