Crabs don't count. They eat garbage, and breath air. You will have to devise a ladder, strong plastic plant, or something so that the crabs can get to the surface for a breath every now and again. I would suggest something like three molly-sized fish, five guppies, or one angel. For selection of fish and water/heat requirements go to http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/categ.cfm?pcatid=830. One fish 1" size per gallon.

Now with crabs you need to have the water level low so that they can come out for air, so you can only have a couple of crabs in a fish tank this big, no fish. If you get rid of the crab then you can get a couple of guppies or neon tetra's.

A five gallon tank is a small tank, the total amount of fish that can be kept are 75 sq cm (12 sq inch) for every 2.5 cm (1 inch) of body length is safe to keep. But ensure there is some aeration with a pump and no crabs please.

this is simple for every inch of five one inch fish can live in it the ratio is an ich to gallon per fish and the crabs do not factor into thatno more than five one inch fish or the amonia levels will shooot up and all your fish will die they produce this to get the water how they want it to many fish in a small area and the amonia will build up and poisin them

all depends on the size of the fish, how big it gets, how much room it needs, how fast it grows, etc....
