Primarily reason will be of the advances in medical and science technology. Secondly, human have learned throughout the history on how to overcome the natural disaster and social issues. More people are getting roof over their head as compared to 50 years ago. Law are getting better in some countries as well as the government. Travelling has become a lifestyle and can be achieved in short time rather than months. I think ultimately is that we, the human desire to live longer and as such strive to achive that purpose. It is known fact now that the average life span of a person is getting longer compare to our forefathers.
However, we have NOT add life to the number of years we added. Ironic, right?
Thanks for allowing me to share.

Because we have more ideas on what "kills" us; so we know how to prevent and get rid of these things. We also have a "cleaner" society and so that helps prevent some things. And we have revolutionized so we know more then we did back then. Um I know more bout that I just don't know how to explain it...sorry. I hope this helps
