Monotheism = Belief in one god

Polytheism = Belief in many gods

Atheism = Belief in no god (often confused with Agnosticism, which is based on the premise that the existence of a deity cannot be proven or disproven).

Yes, as everyone else has said belief in one god is called "monotheism." But to add a few more things:

- Some forms of monotheism in the past (and even today in some tribal societies) don't always need there to be a belief in one god- many believe the ancient Hebrews believed in more than one god but that THEIR god was the Creator and the most powerful..
- Ancient Zoroastrians were monotheistic although some called them "duallistic" believing in two gods one good, one evil- (ie. God and Satan).
