Question

I was reading the news online and came across this article about how Opec is concerned about sliding gas prices??? WTF!!! It doesnt cost you any more to produce gas then it did several years ago and look at the increase!! NOW prices are going to go up again just because Opec is worried that their not going to make RECORD BREAKING PROFITS!!! Come on now.... just something about this really jerks my chain!!

Oil rose toward $62 a barrel as producer group Opec kindled fears of production cuts, saying oil's steep slide from record peaks had brought prices too low.

US crude rose 41c at $61.86 a barrel, bringing the price well above yesterday's six-month low below $60. London Brent rose 16c to $60.96.

The rebound came after Edmund Daukoru, the Opec president, said the slide in prices was harming investment and that "something needs to be done."

He said in Abuja, Nigeria, that members of the exporters' cartel, which pumps a third of the world's oil, were already talking internally about the price fall.

Opec expects the global oil supply to be a "colossal" 1.8 million barrels per day above demand by the second quarter of next year, he added. Opec sources have said the group has no plans to call an emergency meeting ahead of its scheduled December 14 meeting in Nigeria. - Reuters

My point is this..... If we (the consumer) are concerned about rising gas prices nothing happens.... gas prices rise with out any concern about $3.00 per gallon gas and the effect on the economy. But heven forbid is Opec is "concerned about the slide from $72.00 per barrel down to $60.00 in winter months" and effect it may have??? Come on!! To give you a reference point oil was selling at $25/barrel in September 2003.

They have to add something to the oil for summer usage. By doing the math Oil should go DOWN in winter NOT UP! Because they don't have to add Ethanol (I think that's what it is)

They love playing with our emotions.

That is why I took myself out of the gas game. I got a tiny little car that goes all week on 16.00.

If EVERYONE would cash in their Hummers and way to big SUV and drive something smaller our gas usage would go down. That would really stick it to the man. He can't make money on stuff we aren't buying.

If OPEC were a US company they would be tried and convicted for price fixing.

Let's get those alternate fuels going soon so we can tell them what they can do with the oil. And it would probably really squelch muslim terrorists too.

We all need gas. That is all there is to it. But here's the skinny. If we pick one company, Exxon, and all refuse to purchase from Exxon, that will sens a message. Chevron could be next. Send the same message. It will make a point. Amoco is defiantly in line too. Boycott the BIG GUYS and they will get the message.
