3 - Win
1 - Draw
0 - Lose.

"Away" goals count a little bit more in SOME competitions such as the Champions League.

When there is an away goal rule it means that, if the game ends in a draw, the team that scored more goals away wins. This only takes place when there are two games per stage, each played in each other's stadium.

Example.

Manchester united v Chelsea

Man U (home) - 2
Chelsea (Away) - 1

Clesea (home) - 3
Man U (Away) - 2

The Agregate score would therefore be
Manchester United - 4
Chelsea - 4

But United scored 2 goals away, while Chelsea only managed 1, therefore United go through to the next stage.

There are two kinds of competitions in football. Cup competitions/ tournaments (say the world cup, champions league etc).
The other kind is the regular league in which say 20 teams play against each other in the year (football season).

In both types of competitions, a win is 3 points, a draw 1 point and a loss 0 points; there's no change in the points system. The strategy for winning both types of competitions however differs.

In the cup competitions, fewer matches are played over a shorter period so apart from final matches if teams are playing each other home and away; it important to win as many matches as possible, score as many goals as you can but more importantly score more goals in yor opponent's backyard, but try not to let them do same to you. Reason is because you play fewer matches, its likely at the end of round, where say only one team in a group will qualify, its possible two teams might have the same number of points, have scored same number of goals and then in the end, its the one who scored the most away, in the opponents backyard who gets to qualify.

In league competitions, you play a lot of other teams and many matches, you hardly get two teams tying with the same points. In the unlikely event they do tie and a winner of the league must be declared, a goal difference is used {subtract goals conceded from goals scored}. Team with higher goal difference wins. If both have same points and same goal difference, then a play-off (a match at a neutral venue between the two teams) will decide the champions

IF U WIN AT HOME GROUND - U GET 3 POINTS
IF U WIN AT AWAY GOUND - U GET 3 POINTS
IF U LOSE AT HOME GROUND - U DONT GET ANY POINTS
IF U LOSE AT AWAY GROUND - U DONT GET ANY POINTS
IF IT IS A DRAW AT HOME GROUND - U GET 1 POINT
IF IT IS A DRAW AT AWAY GROUND - U GET 1 POINT
