I travel hundreds of miles to keep in touch with my school friends it's been 40 years now since we first met, they also return the visits, true friends need cherishing, and we all have to put equal effort into keeping friendships alive. I would feel part of me was missing if I lost my long term friends.

Its a shame you've got to 44 and can't spell the word with but nevermind.
I've known my housemate since I was 5 and we're now both 26.
My best friend and I have been mates for 15 years aswell. I agree, having mates for a long time is great.
