And how does this tie in with her spell in the same mental hospital as Hurley???

FINALLY..someone other than me brought it up! :)

I could well off base *God knows it wouldn't be the first time..lol*, but I think Libby WAS one of the Others. Case in point: Michael. He shot Ana Lucia as he was ordered, but did you see the look of shock on his puss when he shot Libby? I know some of you are going to say "That means nothing. He looked shocked because he didn't expect her there..only Ana." True true, but I think he saw her with the Others while he was looking for Walt

No, I don't think she was one of the others but isn't it weird how they are connected in some way Jack's Dad knew Ana-Lucia and met Sawyer, Jack met Desmond before, Libby knew Hurley,
Jack's wife, Sarah, was involved in the car accident that killed fellow castaway Shannon's father, in the episode "The Long Con," Sawyer and an associate have lunch together in a diner; the woman who waits on them is Kate's mother. There are more here:

I'm not sure how meeting Desmond would have made her one of the others. I don't see any evidence that she is.

I did find it interesting that her husband's name was David - the same name as Hurley's imaginary friend when they were both in the hospital. What's that all about?

I'm not really sure why she was in the hospital, but maybe she had an imaginary friend too. She's not one of the Others, she was in the tail section of the plane. She was with Anna Lucia, Mr. Eko, and the other survivors in the back of the plane.
Plus: It was about four years ago that she was in the US. The Others have been there WAY longer than that. They stole Alex Roussio (the french ladies daughter) sixteen years ago.

I don't believe Libby is an "other". As someone else stated its just another of the cross connections between the characters. Libby never got a backstory episode. I hope at some point the writers provide one even though her character is dead.

as of yet we dont understand who those adult males are, yet we do understand they have been conversing portuguese. the main evident assumption is they're adult males employed by utilising Penny to discover "the island" by utilising finding for an electromagnetic anomoly. through fact the island is meant to be invisible (I actual have my very own theories as to why it somewhat is) they might in basic terms come across it place by utilising charting an electomagnetic anomoly brought about by utilising not getting into the numbers and pressing the button in time. They mentioned "did we omit it back?" through fact they in all probability ignored the anomoly on Sept twenty 2d while the plane crashed. i think of Penny is known with that Des crashed in this island and she or he's have been given those 2 adult males finding for the coordinates so as that she will launch some style of rescue. i think of she is known with some issues bearing directly to the island through Widmore's ties with the Hanso initiating yet i additionally think of that she would not understand what she's getting herself into.

She is only a pawn. Penelope's father hired her to give her boat to Desmond so he would sail off around the world, out of Penelope's life or to get him on the island. Did you notice Penelope's father was one of the Hanso Corporation's Directors? Penelope is obviously aware of her father's involvement in the island. How else would she know where or what to look for, when she hired those 2 Portugese manning the station in the arctic.
