They are two different banks with different set of shareholders. Standard Bank is based in South Africa with some presence in London and other European cities.

Standard and Chartered is based in Asia Pacific with strong presence in Hong King and Singapore.

The only similarity is the word 'Standard'.

standard bank plc is mainly operated in europe, usually in united kingdom and africa while standard chartered bank is in asia usually in hongkong and singapore.
