I had my tubes ties after the birth of my 2nd child. It is done under general anesthesia, or if you had an epidural and it is still working, you can have in then. It is a relative simple procedure. The Esure is done by placing small tubes into you Fallopian tubes, this over time causes scar tissue to build up and thus plugs up the Fallopian tube. Instead of cutting and tying or burning they simply plug off on their own. The difference is that it is very difficult to revers if you choose to. There is so much scarring a large portion of the tube would have to be removed and pieced back together. But I have heard that this is done vaginally in about 30 minutes. It is called the lunch time sterilization. You can also return to work sooner. Like the next day. personally I never regretted my choice of sterilization. Two children was all I could raise and educate with my situation. They are now grown and well educated and I can still manage financially.

Horror story: When I was 40 I decided to have my tubes tied. Tubal ligation. I was single. Not excessively sexual but I had my hopes. I met someone and the year after that, I experienced a ectopic pregnancy that cost me my ovary on the right side. If you go with a ligation, have the doctor make sure it's gonna take.

the first answerer is wrong! women get their tubes tied all the time, it's a pretty easy procedure. i had mine done while i was in the hospital with my third son. the only restrictions doctors have is they don't like to tie them if your younger than 25.

I didn't choose either option. I decided after all the months I carried my children and what I went through to have them, it was fair to have my husband get a vasectomy. Also, for the man, the recovery time is soooo much faster and the procedure itself is so much easier. I vote for this option!!

No Most women do not need their tubes tied and it can lead to health problems. Doctors only recommend that women get their tubes tied only if they need to for medical reasons.

I got my tubes tied right after the birth of my third child. My then-husband decided this was easier. (for him) (that's one of the reasons he's my ex)
