When they found objects inside the person that shouldn't be in there. Like leftovers from surgery, etc. ~~

I was at the Norton Simon museum about 20 years ago and they had an exhibit on using x-rays to read the layers beneath oil paintings. Showing how artists had repainted over old works or placed an object over a figure.

It was pretty cool. So, my guess is 1985 or prior to that.
