when you go to run it, if it is cold ( and warmed up suddenly like you turned on the heat) you must let it warm up first
the same as a cold glass of water gets "sweat" so will a cold computer when brougt into heat, and having this sweat on the inside, is the same as putting water on it. it will break.
if its hot, and you bring it into the cold, no problems.
Running it cold won't hurt it either, just as long as it stays about the same temp while its powered on.

If the computer is off, it won't be harmed by the cold. Leave it unplugged for safety. To make sure condensation doesn't form, make sure it sits at room temp before turning it on (when you are up there and have the heat on).
