OK, I will not give you fish but will teach you how to fish.

To find 25% off, multiply the price of the skirt by .25. (round off the cents) Subtract that total from 34.95. This is what the skirt should cost with that discount. Then subtract the price the cashier said it would be.

Voila.

an easier way to do it would be multiply 34.95 by .75--no subtraction. The answer would be just about $2.

SP = 34.95(1 - .25) = 34.95(.75) = 26.2125

26.2125 - 24.50 = 1.7125
