does Germany need The Eu To import and export natural ressouces for cheapest price of all?

The EU would be most effective if it became equivilent to what the US has today with its 50 states. Of course this will never happen because that would require a central government with the power to control the military. Never-the-less, any free trade systems such as the EU will help all who are involved by letting them specialize in what their country does well and inport other things tax free.
