We bought one that is a back pack. This way it's extremely functional and it doesn't embarrass my husband to carry it around as well. It came with a bottle cooler, cell phone holder and a mini purse. It also comes equipped with a changing pad and plenty of storage room. We got it at Babies R Us for $35.

I have two bags. The first one is a diaper bag that I bought from Landsend. It's large, has lots of storage, a nice large changing pad, a wet bag and, my favorite part, it opens up like a doctor's bag so you can see everything inside at once. I like it for trips where we're going to be gone all day and need to pack extra changes of cloths and a blanket besides all the usual baby items.
My second bag is a messanger bag that I bought at Wal-Mart. It has lots of pockets, is large enough for the changing pad from the other bag and holds everything we'd need for short trips around town.
Both are nice looking bags that my husband doesn't mind carrying around.

I got a real nice one from Target, It's by Amy Coe and it's a chocolate brown suede bag. It had many compartments and even a changing pad! I wear it as a diaper bag/purse when Im out so I dont have to have 2 different bags! I believe it was about $30.00, but WELL worth the price!

I just use an oversized tote bag as diaper bags never seem big enough. For bottles, if you are bottle feeding, place them in a plastic bag first to avoid leaks. I learned the hard way this this. Or.....if you really want a nice diaper bag, Eddie Bauer has some nice ones. I have seen them at Shopko.

Honestly?
If I could go back and start over, I'd probably never have gotten a "diaper bag" but instead just used a backpack. By the time they were toddlers I had switched to a backpack. Much easier to lug that around with an active child.

Put in another vote for a backpack. It makes life so much easier than a big bulky bag to shlep. If you carry a decent sized purse and breastfeed, you can easily get away with a couple diapers & travel pack of wipes tucked in there and forget the bag altogether. .
Seems like the more kids I have the less I carry around stuff for them. :-)

Skip Hop makes great bags that come in a variety of colors and patterns - with a fair number of inside and outside pockets. Just do a search on Yahoo! for Skip Hop and you can check out the options.
It's also great because the strap remove to easily attach to your stroller. In addition they are gender neutral - which means your husband won't feel like he's carry a woman's purse.
The size has worked well for me and I have twins...

There are so many to choose from and keep in mind any bag that works for you is a good diaper bag even if it was specifically intended as a "diaper bag"

I never used one. Just a large purse. You only need so much, and it all fits better that way. One with a few extra pockets are great. It is less embarassing than a diaper bag too. Good Luck!

I bought one at Wal-Mart,and it's made by Jeep. It's really durable, and has lots of room. It's just black with a Jeep logo on the front lower corner. Comes with a changing pad, a little zippered bag(clear) that attaches to the inside, a cell phone holder that clips on/off and it has the little loops on the inside to hold bottles. It was only about 20 bucks. It's big though. They don't have the one I have on here, but here's some others by Jeep.

I also have one that they gave me at my OB office. It's just black, and it's mid-size. I use it when we aren't going to be gone long, and the bigger one for when we'll be out 2+hours.
