Zygote, Embryo, and Fetus are stages of development that come BEFORE birth. Infancy, childhood, adolescence, and adulthood are stages of development that come AFTER birth. Technically there is no such thing as an "unborn child", since one has to be born before becoming a child.
This is not to say that fetuses are not valuable - but there are defined stages of development -- and there are some things we can't change by legislation.

My feeling has always been that if the fetus is not viable, that is not able to exist outside the womb, then it is not a person. I've heard counter arguments that say that a baby is dependent on its mother for food, that it can't survive on its own. I'm not talking about survival. I'm talking about the ability to live at all without being connected physically to the mother. As technology progresses that potential viability date continues to be pushed up and it is an issue that will need to be readdressed. However for now a first trimester fetus is totally incapable of existing on it's own. It's a potential person, but is not there yet.

No matter how harsh the truth sounds, it's the truth. We all know what it is and when people decide not to have them then we are doing something to prevent it.. So no matter what we name or call it, let it be fetuses, unborn children, murder, miscarriage there was a life that began and somehow it ended. With our permission or not....I don't care what they call it as long as they take the same amount of time that it took them to name the laws to also help people get educated at schools to help prevent these situations and get women who were victim of a crime free counseling.... as long as our tax money is used wisely...I don't mind what they name it.

What's in a name? Fetus, Unborn Child, who cares what they call it? Does it change things to give them different names?
The trick is to stick a needle in the brain as you pull it out so that it dies before it takes its first breath. That's called late term abortion and it's done every day of the week.
BTW, I'm for abortion, if it's done early.
Too bad embryonic stem cells are useless. It would give us more reasons for abortions. On the other hand, adult stem cells are changing and saving lives every day. (If only Christopher Reeve were told that.)

Against. I don't believe an the an "unborn" becomes a person until it takes it's first breath.

there are already laws that are similar.
we now have a fed fetal homicide law(many states do also).....the language in that is "viable fetus"......and the law is written rather vague....but there can be a sep charge(think of the S. Peterson case) for the fetus now......which imo is just another way and a backdoor approach to changing the law re: abortion.
No need for sep charge...if preg(baby viable) it can automatically be a capital offense.....sep charge not needed.

Oh, okay..let's play with words.
Why not just call the fetus an "unborn adult"?
Or "unborn person"?
If you can't call it what it is then all you are doing is playing politics with semantics.
