For most women it is right in the middle of their cycle, half way between the start of one period and the start of the next. The number of days in your cycle might be different from other women, but for the average woman the time that they are most fertile is 14 days after the first day of their period.
A good way to see if this holds true for you is to take your temperature every day at 7 am...it has to be the same time every day. On the days that you are ovulating (most fertile) your temperature will be slightly higher than on the other days.
Also, don't have sex every day. Men take a while to recover their sperm count. Every other day is the best way to go. You have about a 4-day window in which to get pregnant- two days before you ovulate and two days after. So if you determine (by taking your temperature) that you ovulate on day 14, have sex on day 12, day 14, and day 16.
Please, if you are not married, think long and hard about your decision to have a baby. I'm not saying you shouldn't do it, but please think about it first. Is this guy really committed to you? Is he willing to get married? If he's not, I would wonder why. Make sure you both have stable, well-paying jobs. And if you guys are ready to be parents, you are probably ready to get married and should get married for your future child's sake.

It worries me to see all these woman asking all of these basic questions about their bodies and their cycles….and then getting all these different answers – and usually most of these answers are WRONG!
This is my standard answer......... go get a book called Taking Charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler
This book will help you with all of your menstrual and conception questions. It’s for all women - not just women trying to conceive. It covers everything from temperature to mucus checking, etc.. It will help you understand your body and all the myths about it. It will help you time when you are ovulating and the best times to conceive – or not! It tells you how to figure out your cycle and what to expect. My husband and I tried for a year to conceive and nothing happened. The first month I used the book we conceived right away. Now I am due Feb 2. It's about knowing your body and knowing when you are fertile or not. You can pick and choose what you do with your info. Good luck and don't listen the all the myths!

He should get tested to see if he can make a baby , then get an ovulation kit to tell when your most firtle , and don't stress it will hinder it. Then have lots of sex!!! (a myth that I think is true : if you elevate your hips , like put a pillow under you , after he c**s in you and wait a bit before 'going to clean up' your chances will be better)

You have to figure out how long your cycles are.
You normally ovulate 2 weeks after your menstrual cycle.
There are great books you can borrow from the library or
purchase.
I used www.femta.com You input your cycles and it tells you
when to have sex. Worked great for us (2 cycles).

No, honey, I'm sorry; Darwin says if you can't figure out how this works for yourself, forget it. And it's your boyfriend, not your husband? It could never be appropriate to encourage you.
