I wouldn't call condoms worry-free. Go to your local family planning clinic and they can help you decide what is right for you. I'm using an IUD and love it! It is about as worry-free as I could ever get.

Abstinence, condoms, and natural family planning are going to be your "safest" in terms of not taking in more hormones or worrying about side effects. However, a few extra hormones may be worth the extra safety of not welcoming a bundle of joy into your life 9 months from now! You could try a low dose birth control. Or a pill like the one I am on called, Desogen (generic). I believe it is the same as Orth-Evra. It is a pill where the hormone level stays the same, it doesn't decrease and increase throughout the month like the others do. Which, for me, means a steadier balance emotionally. It works great for me. I have also had no side effects with it! Just talk to your doctor about all your options.

To avoid hormones and/or side effects, the safest thing would be to combine methods.

You can be fitted for a diaphragm by your gynecologist. It is used with spermicidal jelly for more protection.

You can also have your partner wear a condom while you use a spermicide (jelly, foam, vaginal suppository etc) or you could use the Today sponge while your partner is wearing a condom.

Personally, I would suggest always having your partner wear a condom anyway, but because of user error, mistakes, leaks etc, protect yourself by using another method as well... any of the above :)

If you wanted to be TRIPLE safe, you could also avoid having intercourse during the fertile time of your cycle. With the first day of your period being day #1, and having a normal 28 day cycle, you would avoid intercourse on Day #12 through Day #16. If your partner gets edgy, you could certainly still use oral or manual techniques to satisfy him during those times.

Nothing is worry free, except as others have mentioned abstinence, but of course if your married, that's not a very good option. Have a talk with your OBGYN about what your priorities are in birth control (money, hormonal balance, not having to interrupt your intimacy, being able to become pregnant quickly if you want to). The doc can help you know what matches your body and priorities best...not to mention provide what you choose.

Best wishes

Abstinence, even though it's not the best choice of a word. You mainly need to practice the principle of not having sex before you're married. Liberalism has brainwashed most of us, leading us to believe that it's okay and normal, but it's one of the worst things you can do.

That's assuming you're single, but if you're married, contraceptives would be okay, although some common sense timing usually works best.

condoms are very good as long as u hold the tip and leave some room before putting it on and when exiting..hold the base so it dont fall off...id go with the pill.. a low dosage one for a short time just dont forget it......if u get sick..and vomit no sex.....well u could also put a pill between your knees but keeping them closed is the trick and im afraid sex is meant to be so great it automatically opens ur legs. so ud better get on something quick

Just don't have sex, genius! It's the best way not to have to worry about anything. You can't catch an Sexually Transmitted Disease without the sex. DUH!
